The Volunteer Resource Centre has something for everyone.  The Hastings Region has a large and diverse range of not-for-profit organisations with a vast array of volunteer roles.

Admin & Reception

​Children

We currently have volunteer vacancies for Reception/Admin Assistants who are competent in data entry and have good communication skills. Some roles require Excel, Word or possibly social media knowledge. General office duties including shredding, filing and photocopying are also needed.  Days and hours differ between roles.

If you are comfortable interacting with children and young people, we have several organisations who are looking for leaders for youth groups; people to assist in a playgroup setting participating in activities as well as collecting fees, purchasing and organising toys. 

Food Handling

There are a number of ways your interest in food can benefit the community. Whether you would like to help with meal preparation in a group setting or you'd be happy to assist someone in their own home we can offer the choice. Possibly food delivery would suit you better? Some interaction with clients, carers, staff and other volunteers.

Fundraiser Assistant

As a Volunteer Fundraising Team Assistant you will be a member of our volunteer fund raising team. You will gain practical experience in fund raising and will be responsible for fundraising efforts in the Port Macquarie local community and surrounding areas. Successful applicants will be provided Volunteer Management Training. Days/time to be negotiated with volunteer.
Additional requirements: Help with fundraising campaigns as required (Eg. attending events to sell tickets, putting up posters, sausage sizzles etc.)

Gardening/Lawn Mowing

Green thumbs not necessary but if you like pottering in the garden and helping to keep facilities looking neat and tidy let us know. Some options may also require mowing lawns. 

Bush Rejuvenation and Plant Propagation

Looking for volunteers with an appreciation for the natural environment and a minimum level of physical fitness to join regular weekly working bees. 
Landcare is a fun and social initiative that supports the environment, keeping you active and engaged with the incredible biodiversity of Hastings/Port Macquarie Council's Natural Areas. As a Landcare volunteer, you’ll help restore natural areas, boost biodiversity, create habitats for wildlife, protect native flora and fauna, and improve ecosystem health. You will also develop practical skills in plant identification, weed control techniques, and gain a profound understanding of bushland restoration—all while having fun working alongside other like-minded volunteers. Learn more.
