Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre

Welcome to the Tool Library
The Tool Library has been established to enable people in our communities to loan tools to assist them build, repair and create. The Port Macquarie and Wauchope Neighbourhood Centres Tool Libraries have a range of tools from mowers to drills and most things in between. To loan a tool you just need to become a member of the library in your community for a small annual fee.

How the Tool Library Works

It is a place where community can come and loans tools out for tasks around the home if you do not have the money to buy your own. Follow the steps below to start borrowing tools to keep your home maintained and in tip top shape.

Become a Member​
Personal ID will be Required


​Anyone from the local community can loan a tool once they become a Member of the Tool Library. ​
​Tool Library members must be 18 years old and above.


​How to Become a Member
It is FREE to loan a tool, but first you must become a MEMBER.
There is a yearly membership fee of $25 for concession card holders and $60 for everyone else.

You will need to complete a MEMBERSHIP FORM by following the instructions which you can either:

  • use the QR code to complete the online form and press submit then pay your membership fee, or  

  • download, print, complete, pay via direct deposit and then bring into Port Macquarie or Wauchope Neighbourhood Centres along with your ID documents you will need to bring in during Office Hours: or

  • you can collect a hard copy of the form from Port Macquarie or Wauchope Neighbourhood Centres during Office Hours. Complete the form, pay your membership fee and then return the form along with your ID documents which will need to be sited:
 
Port Macquarie, 2 Dodds Street  -  Monday to Thursday      9.00am to 3.00pm
Wauchope, 4 Tallowood Avenue  - Monday to Wednesday 9.00am to 3.00pm

Your membership number and card will be given to you when you next visit your chosen centre and show proof of identity documents as listed below.

Pay the membership fee via direct bank transfer to:

Provide Proof of Identity


​All members will be required to provide visual evidence of their identity and concession card.
  You are asked to bring these with you when you pick up your membership card prior to your first tool loan.
 
No loans will be allowed until proof of identity is sighted.

We will need to see the following to approve your membership:
  • A driver’s license or other form of photo identification
  • A utility bill with current address and member’s name
  • A current concession card. Health, Student, Pension or Centrelink are all excepted.

Reserve Your Tools Using Tool Bag
We will have power tools like drills and circular saws plus garden tools like hedge trimmers and mowers.


How to Reserve Your Tools
  • Click on the link to the Tool Library. Home 2 – Tool Library

  • Select which centre you are borrowing from, our tool libraries are located at:
            Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre – 2 Dodds Street Port Macquarie and
           Wauchope Neighbourhood Centre - 4 Tallowood Ave, Wauchope

  • Check out what we have in stock and add the ones you need to your tool bag

  • Then select 'My Tool Bag' check you have the tools you want listed.

  • Complete the form and prompts for information and dates.

  • Once you submit your loan request, we will be sent an email confirming your reservation which we will use to ready the tools for pick up on the appropriate Monday (Wauchope) or Tuesday (Port Macquarie)

  • Tools must be returned by the due date provided at time of tool issue.  

When and Where Do I Pick Up the Tools

PICK UP AT PORT MACQUARIE
Pick up is on a Tuesday between 9.30am and 11.00am from:

Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre - 2 Dodds Street, Port Macquarie

RETURN TO PORT MACQUARIE
Tools can be returned on Wednesday or Thursday of the same week between 10am and 2pm but MUST be returned no later than the following Monday by 2pm.
PICK UP AT WAUCHOPE 
Pickup is on a Monday between 10.00am and 11.00am from:

Wauchope Neighbourhood Centre - 4 Tallowood Avenue, Wauchope

RETURN TO WAUCHOPE
Tools can be returned on Tuesday or Wednesday of the same week between 10am and 2pm but MUST be returned no later than the following Monday by 9am.

How Long Can I Use the Tools
You can use the tools for a maximum of 5 days
This allows us time to get the tools ready to be booked out for the next person.
For Public Holiday weekends, please clarify the return date with a staff member.


​RETURN TO PORT MACQUARIE
Tools can be returned on Wednesday or Thursday of the same week between 10am and 2pm but MUST be returned no later than the following Monday by 2pm.
​RETURN TO WAUCHOPE
Tools can be returned on Tuesday or Wednesday of the same week between 10am and 2pm but MUST be returned no later than the following Monday by 9am.

Lost or Damaged Tools


  • Members are responsible for tools loaned out in their name.
  • This means if a tool is lost or damaged, the member may incur the cost of repair or replacement. 
  • We do our best to repair tools free of charge, but replacement parts may incur a fee.
  • Replacement fees vary and are based on the cost of purchasing a new tool or parts.
  • Please take care of our tools, they belong to all of us.​

Will there be Classes on How to Use the Tools


​Yes, these classes will be held as part of Mission Australia Housing, Home Handy Workshop classes.

Keep an eye out at the Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre for details. There will be workshops on how to repair holes in walls through to how to paint.

We have a crew of fantastic people who will also show you how a tool works and make sure you have the best tool for the job.

Bits and Pieces


​Will I need petrol for the Mower?

No. We have state of the art battery powered mowers and line trimmers from Ryobi. No need to carry dangerous petrol around!


Will you have drill bits, nails and screws?
​Yes.  We will have these things to help you get your jobs done. For these items there may be a small charge.
