Welcome to our eLearning Courses

Building a stronger volunteer community in the Hastings
Training and development makes volunteering stronger
Making the most of what volunteers know and can do benefits the community. That’s why training, support and professional development for volunteers and the people who manage them is important. Developing volunteers' skills makes volunteering more attractive, more rewarding and more purposeful for volunteers. It also:
  • builds skills and competency to support organisations
  • gives volunteers employment pathways
  • allows diverse skills and backgrounds to work as a team
  • helps deliver essential services.
Informal training for volunteers
Volunteering happens within not-for-profit community organisations also known as ‘volunteer involving organisations’ (VIO's). Informal volunteer training mostly happens on the job, through induction and orientation sessions and working with colleagues. Some volunteers may choose to do some form of self-study to make themselves feel more confident in the role.  VIO's who employ professional volunteer co-ordinators or managers are more likely to offer more structured volunteer training as they have the time and the expertise that perhaps an all-volunteer VIO may not have.

The Volunteer Experience

Have you always wanted to volunteer but don't know what is involved?
Then the Volunteer Experience slide show is specifically designed for you to help you to understand what is involved in taking on a volunteer role.  We also hope to build your confidence on taking on a role by explaining what you can expect from the organisation that you choose, and what they will expect from you in return.

Volunteering is incredibly rewarding so once you have completed the slide show and given your feedback in the link below, give us a call and we can get you started on your volunteer journey.
